1. What this policy covers
This policy explains how Nightingale Content & Strategy uses cookies and other technologies that store information on, or access information from, a visitor’s device.
UK rules under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations apply more broadly than traditional cookies. They can also apply to technologies such as web storage, scripts, tags, pixels, and device-access technologies.
2. Our current approach
Nightingale Content & Strategy does not intentionally use advertising cookies, behavioural advertising, or cross-site tracking on the website.
The site uses limited storage and access technologies for requested functionality and security. It also offers optional Google Analytics 4 analytics. Google Analytics is not loaded unless a visitor chooses to accept analytics.
Rejecting analytics does not prevent visitors from using the website, the Content Diagnosis, booking functionality, or other core features.
3. Technologies currently used
| Technology | Provider | Purpose | Duration / behaviour |
|---|---|---|---|
| Content Diagnosis sessionStorage | Nightingale Content & Strategy | Preserves diagnosis selections during the current browser session so progress is not lost during navigation or refresh. | Stored in the browser session. After a successful submission, the submitted selections remain available for the current page load and are cleared on the next full reload. They may also be cleared by resetting the diagnosis or ending the relevant browser session. |
| Analytics consent preference | Nightingale Content & Strategy | Records whether a visitor has accepted or rejected optional analytics so the website can respect that choice on later visits. | Stored using browser localStorage until the visitor changes the preference or clears browser storage. |
| Cloudflare Turnstile | Cloudflare | Helps distinguish legitimate users from automated traffic and protects forms against spam and abuse. | Uses browser and device signals and a short-lived verification token. Turnstile pre-clearance is not currently enabled. |
| Google Analytics 4 | Helps us understand website usage, including page visits, engagement, traffic sources, and interactions with website features. | Uses Google Consent Mode. Analytics cookies are stored only if the visitor allows them. If analytics cookies are rejected, analytics storage remains denied and only limited cookieless measurement may be used. |
4. Content Diagnosis session storage
The Content Diagnosis uses the browser’s sessionStorage feature.
This storage keeps the diagnosis selections on the visitor’s own device while the visitor moves through the site. It is used to provide a function the visitor has actively requested. It is not used for advertising, behavioural profiling, cross-site tracking, or marketing attribution.
After a successful submission, the submitted selections remain visible for the remainder of that page load and are cleared from browser storage on the next full reload. A visitor can also reset the diagnosis. Browser session storage is normally cleared when the relevant browser tab or session ends.
5. Analytics preferences
Nightingale Content & Strategy uses Google Analytics 4 with Google Consent Mode. Analytics cookies are not stored unless a visitor chooses to allow them.
If a visitor rejects analytics cookies, analytics storage remains disabled. Google Analytics may still receive limited cookieless measurement data, but no Google Analytics cookies are stored on the visitor’s device.
Visitors can change their choice at any time using the Analytics preferences control in the website footer.
6. Cloudflare Turnstile
The website uses Cloudflare Turnstile to protect forms against spam, bots, and automated abuse. Turnstile performs browser-side security checks and provides a short-lived verification token that our server validates before accepting a submission.
Nightingale Content & Strategy does not use Turnstile for advertising or behavioural marketing. Turnstile pre-clearance is not currently enabled. If that setting changes, this policy will be reviewed because Cloudflare may then use a clearance cookie.
7. Google Analytics
Nightingale Content & Strategy uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the website and to help improve its content, usability, and performance.
When analytics cookies are allowed, Google Analytics may collect information including pages viewed, session and engagement information, referral information, approximate location, and browser or device information.
When analytics cookies are rejected, Google Analytics operates with analytics storage denied. Limited cookieless measurement may still be sent to Google, but analytics cookies are not stored or read.
Nightingale Content & Strategy does not intentionally send names, email addresses, free-text messages, or Content Diagnosis answers to Google Analytics.
Analytics data is not used by Nightingale Content & Strategy for personalised advertising or behavioural profiling.
8. Third-party services
The wider Nightingale Content & Strategy service uses providers including Vercel, Google Cloud/Firebase, Google Analytics, Resend, Calendly, and Cloudflare.
Most interaction with Firebase, Resend, and the custom Calendly booking flow occurs between the Nightingale server and the relevant provider rather than by placing third-party advertising or tracking technology on the visitor’s device.
Cloudflare Turnstile is loaded in the browser because it must perform a security check before a form submission can be accepted. Google Analytics is loaded in the browser only after the visitor accepts optional analytics.
9. Browser controls
Most browsers allow visitors to block, inspect, or clear cookies and browser storage. Blocking technologies that are necessary for website functionality may prevent parts of the Content Diagnosis or other interactive features from working as intended.
Analytics can be enabled or disabled independently using the Analytics preferences control in the website footer.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the website’s technology, suppliers, or legal requirements change. The latest version will be published on the website with its last-updated date. For questions about browser storage, cookies, analytics, or privacy, contact joseph@nightingalecontent.com.
